First of all, our experts examine your items of jewellery for existing purity and alloy stamps and assign them to the corresponding alloys. If there are no such markings, state-of-the-art technical measuring procedures such as X-ray fluorescence analysis, as well as proven traditional examination methods, are used to determine the exact fineness of the precious metal. The jewellery is then weighed on high-precision scales in order to reliably determine the precious metal content.
After exact determination of the specific alloy concerned, we calculate the net fine content of precious metal based on the gross weight of your item of jewellery. This result is then multiplied by the current gold price. In this way, you receive a transparently determined value for your jewellery, which we can pay you if you decide to sell it to us.
The price is based on the various purity grades of gold and silver, as well as the current precious metal market price. Since there are different alloys, there are also different purchase prices. Our current price list shows you transparently what amounts we pay per gram for the different degrees of purity.
The valuation is based exclusively on the pure metal value – that means, we take into account the value of the gold or silver contained, but not the rarity or craftsmanship of the item of jewellery. The basis is always the current gold or silver price, the weight and the purity of your object.
You are directly involved in each step of the purchase process – this takes place completely transparently in your presence. Our experts will be glad to explain each individual step to you and demonstrate how the technical instruments perform the measurements.
We quite often see jewellery that contains only small amounts of precious metals or none at all – sometimes precious metals have only been applied to the surface. In such cases, the jewellery is of course returned to you. Please note that we can only value the pure precious metal content and not the craftsmanship. We will always give you your gemstones back, and the movements in the case of watches.
