The ultra-modern deposit box systems in Zurich and Geneva are among the safest in Switzerland. Electronic surveillance with direct links to a security control centre is guaranteed round the clock. Additional protection is provided by further security measures and on-site security staff. Moreover, the rent for every deposit box also includes insurance cover, which can be increased to the amount requested by each client.
THE DISCRETE ALTERNATIVE TO STORAGE IN A BANK
Safe deposit boxes are also available at banks, of course, albeit only for customers with an account, which makes opening a deposit box at a bank unnecessarily complicated. Renting a safe deposit box from a bank-independent provider is simpler and can be done in half an hour, as there is no need to open an account. Absolute discretion is likewise guaranteed. At Degussa, for example, only the owner of the safe deposit box and any authorised proxies they name can access it. No more than one client at a time is ever allowed into the safe deposit vault. Several discrete viewing rooms maximise convenience for each client. For larger quantities of precious metals upwards of CHF 250,000, we also recommend duty-free warehousing. At these facilities, value-added tax is payable only when the metal is physically shipped.
