Hotel guests treasure the incomparable hospitality they experience at the Baur au Lac. And part of this experience is an implicit trust that they – and their valuables – are completely safe and secure. Safe deposit boxes from external providers are the ideal option for long-term rental arrangements.
BARRIER-FREE ACCESS AT A CENTRAL LOCATION
Safe deposit boxes are increasingly used for more than just storing jewellery, precious metals and artworks. Many businesspeople also use them as safekeeping for confidential documents they do not wish to have on their person every time they go out or come in. Various sizes may be necessary, depending on requirements. Returning guests – including the Baur au Lac’s numerous regulars – especially value this kind of service. At Degussa’s centrally situated vaults in Zurich and Geneva, jewellery, coins and/or objets d’art can even be valued on site by assessors, auction houses and other specialists, avoiding the need for further transportation.
SWITZERLAND’S SAFEST DEPOSIT BOXES
The ultra-modern deposit box systems in Zurich and Geneva are among the safest in Switzerland. Electronic surveillance with direct links to a security control centre is guaranteed round the clock. Additional protection is provided by further security measures and on-site security staff. Moreover, the rent for every deposit box also includes insurance cover, which can be increased to the amount requested by each client.
THE DISCRETE ALTERNATIVE TO STORAGE IN A BANK
Safe deposit boxes are also available at banks, of course, albeit only for customers with an account, which makes opening a deposit box at a bank unnecessarily complicated. Renting a safe deposit box from a bank-independent provider is simpler and can be done in half an hour, as there is no need to open an account. Absolute discretion is likewise guaranteed. At Degussa, for example, only the owner of the safe deposit box and any authorised proxies they name can access it. No more than one client at a time is ever allowed into the safe deposit vault. Several discrete viewing rooms maximise convenience for each client. For larger quantities of precious metals upwards of CHF 250,000, we also recommend duty-free warehousing. At these facilities, value-added tax is payable only when the metal is physically shipped.
EUROPE’S LARGEST PRECIOUS METALS TRADER
Degussa, the largest precious metals trader in Europe, also sell physical ingots, bullion coins and collector’s coins to clients, along with all relevant services. Ingots are produced in Switzerland to the strictest quality standards. They are LBMA-accredited, and each one bears a bank security number.
• Inheritances and collections
Collections are accumulated over extended periods and handed down from generation to generation. Drawing on our experience as a precious metals trader, we help heirs and collectors determine the exact value of the items entrusted to them – or find buyers who will pay a good price.
• Personalised stamping
We stamp gold ingots, silver ingots and bullion coins with your personal motifs as of a volume of 250 units. Alternatively, you can personalise existing ingots by having them engraved. For ingots intended as gifts, we will also print a high-quality card bearing your message or visual motif.
• Gold Lending Service
This service is designed for clients who temporarily require liquid funds but do not want to dispose of their ingots and coins altogether. We will give you an interest-bearing loan worth up to 50 percent of the market value of the gold and other precious metals you deposit with us.
